In HEHD 8020 - Youth Development Programming in a Contemporary Society, I participated in a group project that created a new program for the Arthritis Foundation called MECCA: Mentoring, Empowering, Communicating, Connecting, and Advocating. This project was based on the idea that the Arthritis Foundation doesn't have a formal parent-to-parent networking program for newly diagnosed children. I plan and create programs in my position as a program director, but it was unique to see what group members thought of the Arthritis Foundation and the potential opportunities they saw for growth.
